The season will open with the national tour of the jukebox musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert, based on the Academy Award-winning film, which follows three friends who journey across Australia with some fabulous clothes in tow. It will run Sept. 29-Oct. 12.
TUTS will then present a resident production of Elf, the musical penned by Tony Award nominees Chad Beguelin and Matthew Sklar, which is based on the 2003 Will Farrell film of the same title. The holiday comedy will run Dec. 6-19.
The U.S. national tour of the Queen jukebox musical We Will Rock You, which debuted in the West End in 2002, will play Houston Jan. 22-Feb. 4, 2014. It promises such songs as "Another One Bites The Dust," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "We Are The Champions," "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the title song.
The Wizard of Oz, in a new production based on the beloved MGM film with additional music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, will run March 4-16, 2014. Following will be the national tour of the recent Broadway revival of Lloyd Webber and Rice's Evita, which will play Houston May 6-18, 2014.
The final production of the season will be a new resident staging of Disney's The Little Mermaid, featuring a score by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, with additional lyrics by Glenn Slater and a book by Dough Wright.
