News Theatre Wing's SpringboardNYC Accepting Submissions for 2009 Summer Intensive The American Theatre Wing is now accepting applications for the annual theatrical summer intensive, SpringboardNYC, which will be offered June 1-12 in New York City.

SpringboardNYC is described as a college-to-career transition program — including workshops, seminars, master classes and field trips — that introduce college students to the professional theatre world in New York City.

The program, which is limited to 35 participants, is open to college students who are currently in their junior or senior year of study. Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis between now and April 1 for the June 2009 session.

Subjects within the seminars include resume development, interview technique, audition technique (monologue, cold reading and on-camera), and a mock open call. Throughout these seminars participants are provided with ongoing feedback and evaluations from working industry professionals. Participants will also attend Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, as well as the dress rehearsal for the 2009 Tony Awards.

Additional sessions are held with various members of the professional theatre community, including general managers, press agents, company managers, and those in all aspects of commercial and non-profit theatre.
