Pianist Sam Davis (himself an emerging theatre composer) and Broadway's Danny Gurwin and Kristi Marks, sweeten the concert in the 150-seat Leonard Nimoy Thalia.
According to New Voices, "Discover two sides of one of Broadway's most renown songwriters as we present an evening of beloved vocal standards (including such classics as "Autumn in New York," "I Can't Get Started," "Words Without Music," and "Taking a Chance on Love") alongside the "Tema con Variazioni for Piano Trio" and the New York premiere of Duke's "String Quartet in C."
The New Voices Chamber Ensemble features Lilit Gampel, violin; Bori Choi, violin; David Creswell, viola; Clay Ruede, cello; and Joshua Rosenblum, piano.
Symphony Space is at 95th Street and Broadway. Admission to the hourlong concert is $22.
"NVC's Rush Hour Chamber Music series was designed to ease the commuter's cultural schedule," according to the NVC announcement. "Come directly from work, grab a bite to eat in the Thalia Café, relax to a beautiful concert, and be home before most concerts begin. And, as a bonus, meet the artists in the Barocco Café afterwards!" For ticket information, call (212) 864-5400 or visit symphonyspace.com.
