News Time of My Life and Eureka Musicals to Debut in Australia Two new musicals will debut in Australia this fall.

Variety reports that Time of My Life — based on the hit film "Dirty Dancing" — and Eureka, a romantic musical set during the Eureka Stockade, will both begin performances Down Under in October. Details of Time of My Life are expected shortly, and a Sydney premiere is expected. The musical, which borrows its title from the film's hit song, is being produced by Jacobsen Entertainment. "Dirty Dancing," co-starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, was a surprise hit in 1987. A previous stage musical version of the film — entitled The Baby and Johnny Project — was workshopped by Dodger Theatricals in August 2001.

Conceived by Maggie May Gordon, Eureka will feature a score by Michael Harvey. Simon Gallaher, who starred in a 1984 production of The Pirates of Penzance, is producing the musical with a revised script by director Gale Edwards. About Eureka, Gallaher told the industry paper, "It's very ambitious. You're almost treading on ground where people have not dared to tread, or attempted and failed."

The Eureka Stockade was a rebellion of hundreds of gold miners against British officialdom that occurred in 1954 in Ballarat.
