News   Tix for Dirty Dancing Boston Run Go on Sale Oct. 5 Tickets for the East Coast U.S. premiere of the international stage hit Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage go on sale 10 AM (ET) Oct. 5. The pre-Broadway run is scheduled at the Boston Opera House Feb. 7-March 15, 2009.

Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage (inspired by the hit film) is produced by Jacobsen Entertainment in association with Lionsgate and Magic Hour Productions, and written by Eleanor Bergstein, writer and co-producer of the movie. It's already a hit in London, Australia and Toronto.

This pre-Broadway tour is currently playing in Chicago and will also play Los Angeles. No Broadway date has been announced.

Dirty Dancing is billed as an "unprecedented live experience, exploding with heart-pounding music, breathtaking emotion and sensationally sexy dancing."

Baby and Johnny are "two fiercely independent young spirits from different worlds, who come together in what will be the most challenging and triumphant summer of their lives," at a Catskills resort in the 1960s. Expect a cast of 39 and 35 songs, including "Hungry Eyes," "Hey Baby," "Do You Love Me?" and the Academy Award-winning "(I've Had) The Time of My Life." The cast is lead by Amanda Leigh Cobb playing Frances "Baby" Houseman and Josef Brown re-creating the role of Johnny Castle, Baby's headstrong love interest. Brown previously played Johnny in the London and Australian productions of Dirty Dancing. Britta Lazenga of the Joffrey Ballet plays the role of Penny Johnson. Ben Mingay reprises his role as Billy. Previously, he has played the role in Australia, London and Toronto. They are joined by John Bolger as Baby's father Dr. Jake Houseman, Kaitlin Hopkins as her mother Marjorie, and Katlyn Carlson as Baby's sister Lisa.

The show is directed by James Powell, with choreography by Kate Champion.

Tickets will then continue to be available at The Colonial Theatre Box Office, 106 Boylston Street, Boston during normal box office hours Monday-Saturday 10 AM-6 PM.
