Timbers, who also staged The Last Goodbye – a rock take on Romeo and Juliet using the songs of Jeff Buckley – has been tapped to direct "Rosalie," penned by "(500) Days of Summer" writers Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber.

The film, told from the perspective of Romeo's first love (who he dumps for Juliet), is based on Rebecca Serle's novel "When You Were Mine."

Timbers is also at work co-writing "Mozart In The Jungle," a new pilot for Amazon, written with Roman Coppola ("The Darjeeling Limited") and Jason Schwartzman ("Moonrise Kingdom").
