News Tony Winner Szot to Play The Cafe Carlyle Tony Award winner Paulo Szot, whose performance as Emile de Becque in Lincoln Center Theater's Tony-winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific will be broadcast live Aug. 18 on PBS, will make his Cafe Carlyle solo debut this fall.

The opera-singer-turned-Broadway-star will play the Manhattan nightspot Sept. 14-25, according to the Carlyle's official website.

The fall season will also feature John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey, who will play the Carlyle Oct. 5-Nov. 6, and Steve Tyrell, who is scheduled for a Nov. 9-Dec. 31 engagement.

Szot made his operatic debut as Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in his native Sao Paolo before going on to sing lead roles with major opera companies internationally. He won the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards for his performance in South Pacific.

Szot will offer shows Tuesday-Friday at 8:45 PM and Saturday at 8:45 PM and 10:45 PM.
