Playwright Ronnie Larsen — of Making Porn and Peep Show fame — will present his latest work, Sleeping with Straight Men, at New York's Maverick Theatre next year.

Loosely based on the headline-making "Jenny Jones" talk-show incident, where a gay man (Scott Amedure) who had confessed his love for a straight man (Jonathan Schmitz) on air was later murdered by that straight man, Sleeping casts Mink Stole as the chat-show host. Others in the cast of the sharp comedy include Hedda Lettuce, Jared Scott, Aaron Wimmer and Dia Shepardson. Playwright Larsen will direct.

The creative team for the new play comprises Ruby Doosen (costume design), Andrew Petrenko (lighting design) and Freeway Design Associates (set design). Previews begin Jan. 28, 2003, with an official opening scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 16 at 7 PM.

Actress Mink Stole has appeared in 11 films directed by John Waters, including "Hairspray," "Pink Flamingos," "Polyester" and "Pecker." Stole's stage credits include roles in Noises Off, The Killing of Sister George and Sister Mary Ignatius . . . The performer is also a member of the Ridiculous Theatrical Company.

Sleeping with Straight Men will play Tuesday through Friday evenings at 8 PM, Saturdays at 7 and 10 PM and Sundays at 3 and 7 PM at the Maverick Theatre, which is located at 307 West 26th Street. Tickets, priced between $35 and $45, are available through Telecharge (212) 239-6200. For more information, go to www.sleepingwithstraightmen.com. —By Andrew Gans
