News Tween Musical Wanda's World Gets World-Premiere Staging by Lynne Taylor-Corbett The "tween" musical Wanda's World will make its world premiere in New York in January 2008 under the direction of Tony nominee Lynne Taylor-Corbett.

First developed in the cradle of the BMI Lehman Engel Workshop, Wanda's World will play a limited engagement at the 45th Street Theatre Jan. 16-Feb. 3, 2008. The musical, presented by Amas Musical Theatre in association with Terry Schnuck, has direction and choreography by two-time Tony nominee Lynne Taylor-Corbett.

Featuring music and lyrics by Beth Falcone with a book by Eric H. Weinberger, Wanda's World follows Wanda Butternut, a young girl with a birthmark on her face who dreams of being accepted by her fellow classmates. In her fantasy life Wanda creates her own talk show where she helps other kids solve their problems. However, her real life is a different story, and Wanda finds that her schoolmates still judge a book by its cover.

Casting is currently underway for the production that includes Beowulf Boritt (set design), Aaron Spivey (lighting design) and Matthew Myhrum (video design) among its creative team.

Lynne Taylor-Corbett was nominated for two Tony awards and a Drama Desk award for Broadway's Swing! She also choreographed Broadway's Chess and Titanic. Currently, Taylor-Corbett stages Girl's Room, starring Carol Lawrence and Donna McKechnie, at Queens Theatre in the Park through Dec. 9.

Tickets for Wanda's World are available by calling (212) 352-3101. The 45th Street Theatre is located in Manhattan at 54 West 45th Street.
