Classic Arts News   Two More Nina Simone Collections Debut on Billboard Chart

Two CDs of vocalist Nina Simone's music, Nina Simone Sings the Blues and Forever Young, Gifted & Black: Songs of Freedom and Spirit, debuted on the Billboard jazz chart this week.

Sings the Blues entered the chart at number 17, and Forever Young at number 20. The two CDs, both on the Legacy/RCA label, follow the Verve compilation Nina Simone: The Definitive Collection, which debuted at number 14 a week ago but dropped off the chart this week.

Michael Bubl_'s It's Time remained in the top spot, with Chris Botti's To Love Again: The Duets moving up to number two and Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane's live At Carnegie Hall dropping to number three.

There was little movement on the contemporary-jazz chart. Herbie Hancock's Possibilities remained at number one, with Jamie Cullum's Catching Tales at number two.
