The industry paper says Newton has received 11 pilot offers since the cancellation announcement of her ABC-TV series, "Ugly Betty." The new show is "in the vein of [1970s] anthology series 'Love, American Style' and chronicles several loosely connected, modern stories of love, sex, marriage and dating," according to Hollywoodreporter.com. Newton will play Annie, "an optimistic, infectiously bubbly social worker who is a virgin." She will be one of two regular cast members on the show.
Newton's stage credits include the City Center Encores! concert version of Girl Crazy opposite her husband Chris Diamantopoulos, and a recent cabaret act at Feinstein's at Loews Regency with her "Ugly Betty" co-star Michael Urie (The Temperamentals).
