Eddie Marsan, the 29-year-old up and coming British actor, is currently starring in a rather unusual Richard III at London's Pleasance Theatre. The Shakespeare tragedy, directed by Guy Retallack, is set in the East End's gangsterland of the 1960s.
Marsan, who has a "boxer's face and darting eyes," in the words of one critic, had plum roles in two 1997 National Theatre revivals -- he played Joey in The Homecoming and Chas in Chips with Everything.
Later this year he'll be seen in a film directed by Michael Radford, B Monkey.
Performances are Tue.-Sat. at 7:30 PM, with matinees Thu. at 2:30 PM and Sun. at 5 PM. Pleasance Theatre is at 40 North Rd., N7. For tickets, call 011-44-1-71-609-1800.
