News U.K. "X Factor" Star Lands Title Role in Tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Joe McElderry, who won the sixth series of the U.K.'s "The X Factor" and subsequently won two more reality TV shows (the second series of ITV's "Popstar to Operastar" and Channel 4's "The Jump") is to star in the title role of the U.K.'s longest-running touring musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He will join the cast in 2016, with theatres and dates to be announced.

Joe McElderry

McElderry previously starred in a one-off West End gala performance of The Who's Tommy in 2012. He has had a chart-topping success on the U.K. singles chart with his rendition of Miley Cyrus' "The Climb," and his debut album went straight in at number 3 on the U.K. albums chart. He has had two more top ten albums, and he has another album in the making now.



The production is produced by Bill Kenwright by special arrangement with the Really Useful Group, and has been touring for nearly 35 years now, during which time it has sold an estimated 20 million tickets.
