News Urinetown's Maitner Part of Fringe Musical Principia, Aug. 10-23 Described as "a dash of 'The Wizard of Oz,' a touch of Candide and a heaping spoonful of bad Roger Corman flicks," the new musical Principia will play the New York International Fringe Festival Aug. 10-23.

Presented by the Godlight Theater Company, Principia features music by Andrew Recinos and book and lyrics by Michael Maeillo; Joe Tantalo directs. The musical was originally produced in March 2003 at Manhattan Theatre Source, where it drew rave reviews. The company at the Fringe will include Rob Maitner, who was part of the original Fringe production of Urinetown, as well as A Clockwork Orange's Brian Farley, cabaret artist David Gurland and Brian Bianco, JT Patton, Theresa Finamore, Cyrus Roxas, David MacNiven, Sarah Matthay, Cate Bottiglione, Eileen Augustine and Sophia Holman.

Principia will be performed at the Bank Street Theatre, located at 155 Bank Street between West Street and Washington Street. Performance dates are Aug. 10 (noon), Aug. 15 (7 PM), Aug. 21 (5:15 PM), Aug. 22 (9 PM) and Aug. 23 (4:15 PM). Tickets may be purchased by calling (212) 279-4488 or (888) Fringe-NYC.
