News VA's Signature Stages Gypsy with Migliacco, Jan. 9-Feb. 25 Donna Migliaccio will play Mama Rose and Lawrence Redmond is Herbie in the Signature Theatre production of the classic Laurents-Sondheim-Styne musical Gypsy. Donna Migliaccio will play Mama Rose and Lawrence Redmond is Herbie in the Signature Theatre production of the classic Laurents-Sondheim-Styne musical Gypsy. The show will play the Arlington, VA, theatre Jan. 9 to Feb. 25, 2001, with an opening on Jan. 15.

Both Migliacchio and Redmond won Helen Hayes Award for performances at the Signature. Migliacchio claimed the trophy for her turn at Mrs. Lovett in the company's 1991 Sweeney Todd. Redmond won Hayes honors for Signature portrayals in both No Way to Treat a Lady in 1998 and The Rink in 1997.

The other leads will be played by Deanna Harris (Louise) and Lauren Wagner (June). The former is a Signature veteran; the latter makes her debut at the theatre. Additional cast members include Karma Camp, Lauri Kraft, Britt Freund and Sherri Edelen.

Baayork Lee, who created the role of Connie Wong and directed productions of A Chorus Line across the globe, will direct and choreograph this production, about Mama Rose and the two daughters she hopes will make it in post-vaudeville era show biz.
