Joe Deer directs the production with musical direction by Scot Woolley. The creative team also includes Dick Block (scenic design), David Covach (costume design) and John Rensel (lighting design).
Penned by Gregg Coffin (Convenience), the sung-through musical "takes three actors through five belly-stuffing and belly-laughing roles each, from a barbecue to a trattoria, a ratskeller, a cantina and a diner," according to press notes.
With book, music and lyrics by Coffin, Five Course Love has a score that features pop, country, western, doo-wop and operatic material. The musical was seen Off-Broadway at the Minetta Lane Theatre in 2005.
Verina has appeared in the national tour of Forbidden Broadway and the Chicago mounting of Altar Boyz, while Pees' credits include the Off-Broadway production of Boobs The Musical. Vega is familiar to Dayton audiences for his work in the Human Race production of Shenandoah.
The limited engagement of Five Course Love runs through June 22. Tickets are available by phoning (888) 228-3630 or in person at the Schuster Center box office in downtown Dayton.
