Multiple Emmy and Tony nominee Victor Garber has landed a role in Danny Strong’s biographical film Rebel in the Rye, according to Deadline.com.

The film, which follows J.D. Salinger as he prepares to pen the literary classic The Catcher in the Rye, will star the previously reported Nicholas Hoult as Salinger. Garber will play the novelist's father, Sol Salinger. The film will also feature Kevin Spacey, Zoey Deutch, Laura Dern, Brian d’Arcy James and Hope Davis.

Based on the Kenneth Slawenki biography J.D. Producers are Strong and Bruce Cohen with financing by Black Label Media executives Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill.

Victor Garber received Tony nominations for his performances in Damn Yankees, Lend Me a Tenor, Deathtrap and Little Me. His other Broadway credits include Arcadia, Noises Off and Sweeney Todd.
