Based on Yonatan Ben-Nachum’s novel "Confession," playwright Neeman's stage production has been adapted by Ami Dayan (Masked) and Mark Williams. Jeremy Cole directs. Opening night is Feb. 23. Co-adapter Dayan, who also directed Masked to acclaim Off-Broadway, appears in a cast that also features Kevin Hart and Catharine Pilafas.

"In Franco's 1960s Madrid, an Israeli scholar is detained and questioned by a Spanish official for stealing a confidential Inquisition file," press notes state. "Together, interrogator and interrogated become drawn to the file’s wrinkled yellow pages and unravel the ill-fated love affair between the converted Spanish priest, Andrés González (1446-1486), and his Jewish wife, Isabel."

Designing Conviction are Jacob M. Welch (lighting designer), Kevin Brainerd (costume designer) and Annette Westerby (properties).

Conviction earned the 1996 Theatre Netto Festival Prize in Tel Aviv and played for five seasons in the repertoire of Habima, Israel’s National Theatre. In 2008 the Denver Center Theatre Company commissioned a new adaptation by Dayan. The play has since played Chicago's OnstageIsrael Festival, The Victory Gardens Theater, The Rubicon International Theatre Festival in California and The Denver Center Theatre Company.

Performances will continue through March 21. For tickets phone (212) 279-4200 or visit TicketCentral.
