News Village Theatre's Show Boat to Star Adams and Chenovick; Casting Complete Richard Todd Adams and Megan Chenovick will star in the Village Theatre production of the seminal Jerome Kern-Oscar Hammerstein II musical Show Boat, which steams into Issaquah, WA, May 13.

New York stage veteran Jerry Dixon (Once on This Island, Romantic Poetry, Bright Lights Big City) stages the 1994 Hal Prince revival version of the classic musical. The production will play through July 3 in Issaquah, prior to an engagement in Everett, WA, July 10-Aug. 2.

Show Boat will be a grand undertaking for the respected theatre, which is at work constructing a three-story tall showboat that weighs 6,000 pounds. Over 156 costumes are being assembled for the sprawling musical that spans over 50 years of American history.

Based on the novel "Show Boat" by Edna Ferber, Show Boat "spans five decades in the lives of Cap'n Andy Hawks and his troupe of entertainers, a vivid chronicle of changing lives in changing times," according to Village press notes. The musical boasts a catalog of songs including "Ol' Man River," "Bill," "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man," "Make Believe," "Life Upon the Wicked Stage," "You Are Love" and "Why Do I Love You?"

Richard Todd Adams, who has been seen in The Phantom of the Opera, The Pirate Queen and The Woman in White, will star as Gaylord Ravenal opposite Seattle Opera Guild veteran Megan Chenovick as Magnolia Hawks. Additional principal cast members include Cayman Ilika as Julie LaVerne, Marlette Buchanan as Queenie, Kasey Nusbickel as Kim, Greg McCormick Allen as Frank Schultz, Kathryn Van Meter as Ellie May Chipley, Ekello Harrid Jr. as Joe, Larry Albert as Cap'n Andy, Leslie Law as Parthy Ann Hawks, Matthew Posner as Steve Baker, Analiese Emerson Guettinger as Young Kim, Art Anderson as Sheriff Vallon, Casey Raiha as Pete and Noel Barbuto as Windy.

The Show Boat ensemble comprises Jadd Davis, Bojohn Diciple, Bill Williams, Ty Willis, Thaddeus Wilson, Connie Corrick, Antonia Darlene, Erricka S. Turner-Davis, Ashley FitzSimmons, Carly Squires Hutchison, Ashanti Mangum, Becca Orts and Bethanie Willis. Show Boat will have choreography by Stanley Perryman, scenic design by Bob Dahlstrom, lighting design by Gregory Bloxham and costume design by Karen Ledger.
