Volcanic Ash Cloud Won't Stop Elephant at New Victory Theatre

News   Volcanic Ash Cloud Won't Stop Elephant at New Victory Theatre
New York performances of Elephant, a visual and musical celebration of African culture and storytelling, which had been postponed due to the volcanic ash that has been snarling European air travel, will now begin April 24 at the New Victory Theatre.

A production from the UK’s Dodgy Clutch and Johannesburg, South Africa’s Market Theatre, Elephant was scheduled to begin performances April 23. Due to the drifting volcanic ash cloud from Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano, the cast was unable to depart the UK as scheduled on April 18.

On April 20, the New Victory Theatre announced that performances through April 25 (the day the cast hoped to arrive) would be cancelled. However, air traffic has been reinstated at London's Heathrow airport, and the 12-member cast is expected to depart for New York April 23.

Performances will continue as scheduled through May 2, with an added performance on April 29 at 7 PM.

For tickets call (646) 223-3010. The New Victory is located at 209 West 42nd Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenues.
