Though there was much talk that Waiting in the Wings would stay put at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre, forcing the Kerr-intended Moon for the Misbegotten to find another theatre, it was not to be. Wings is the one doing the flying. The Noel Coward play gave its last performance at the Kerr on Feb. 13 and now reopens on Feb. 17, at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, which until Feb. 5 was the home of Wrong Mountain. (The move date is one day later than a previously-announced Feb. 16 reopening.)

Moon for the Misbegotten, starring Cherry Jones and Gabriel Byrne, had been announced for the Walter Kerr many months ago. But sources close to the production had speculated that, in light of Mountain's almost certain quick demise on Broadway, it made more sense for the Coward play to stay where it was, and Moon -- now performing at Chicago's Goodman Theatre -- to settle into the O'Neill instead.

A Moon for the Misbegotten began previews at the Goodman Theatre on Jan. 14 and officially opened Jan. 24. The show, co-starring Roy Dotrice, is set to run through Feb. 19. It will then proceed to Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre, previews beginning March 9. It will open March 19.

Lauren Bacall and Rosemary Harris head the cast of Wings. Bacall plays Lotta Bainbridge, newest resident at "The Wings," a retirement home for actresses, and former fierce rival to Rosemary Harris' May Davenport. Also in the cast are Barnard Hughes, Elizabeth Wilson, Patricia Conolly, Dana Ivey, Rosemary Murphy, Simon Jones, Crista Moore, Helen Stenborg, Victoria Boothby, Bette Henritze, Helena Carroll, Amelia Campbell, Anthony Cummings, Geddeth Smith and Collin Johnson.
