Tony Awards Watch a Joyful Ben Platt and Rachel Bay Jones Open Their Newly Engraved Tony Awards The Dear Evan Hansen stars were all smiles as they opened packages containing their spinning trophies.

A new video captures the moment Dear Evan Hansen Tony winners Ben Platt and Rachel Bay Jones opened boxes containing their newly engraved Tony Awards statues.

“It’s shoes!” title player Platt joked as he removed a box from the 2017 Tony Awards gift bag, adding, “Oooooh.”

Upon opening her box, Jones remarked, “I'm unexpectedly emotional.”

Platt won the Tony for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his performance as Evan Hansen, the high school student whose well-meaning lie eventually overwhelms all around him. Jones won for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for her work as Heidi, Evan's concerned mom.

The production, which also won the Tony for Best Musical, plays the Music Box Theatre.
