Classic Arts News Watch a Scene From the Royal Ballet’s Manon, Playing U.S. Movie Theatres Starting June 5 The London production heads to cinemas through August 29.

The tragic love story of Manon and Des Grieux is headed to the silver screen as part of the Royal Opera House’s cinema season.

Choreographed by Kenneth MacMillan, the Massenet ballet Manon will run in major U.S. movie theaters June 5, with additional screenings running through August 29.

In the video above, Lescaut (Ryoichi Hirano) shows off his sister Manon (Sarah Lamb) to the affluent Monsieur G.M. (Gary Avis) in the ballet’s famed pas de trois.

The screening, which includes two intermissions, also features Vadim Muntagirov as Des Grieux, Itziar Mendizabal as Lecaut’s Mistress, Kristen Mcnally as Madame, Thomas Whitehead as The Gaoler, and James Hay as the Beggar Chief. The production ran at the London company earlier this spring.
