On January 13 Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh returns to her recurring role on The CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend as Rebecca Bunch’s overbearing Jewish mother, Naomi. But it’s double the trouble (or double the fun, for Broadway fans) as Rebecca travels from her new West Covina, CA, digs to her hometown in New York for a family bar mitzvah. And who, might you ask, is the rabbi of Rebecca’s home congregation? None other than Patti LuPone.
As Playbill previously reported in October, LuPone was a fan of the show before signing on to guest star. “My manager happened to be speaking to Mark Pedowitz, the president of the CW Network, and told him what a big fan I was of the show. He replied, ‘I’ll call you back,’ and the next thing I know is I had an offer!” she told Playbill.com at the time. “I’m thrilled to be a part of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. It’s joyful, uplifting, smart, and funny. And it’s a musical comedy on TV.”
