Broadway favorite and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Emmy nominee Tituss Burgess entertained crowds at the 2017 Vulture Festival May 20 with Tituss Burgess, Pinot Noir, and a Grand Piano. The evening featured tales, tunes, and an exclusive interview.
During the show, Burgess brought out a surprise special guest: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt co-star Jane Krakowski. After gushing about each other for the audience (“You’re so good that I hate you”), the two revisited their musical theatre roots with a rendition of “Get Happy”/”Happy Days Are Here Again,” the duet made famous by Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand.
Burgess also paid homage to his days in Broadway’s The Little Mermaid, in which he played Sebastian. “I went to the producers when I was getting ready to leave the show,” he said, “to see if they would let me audition for this other role that I should have been playing. And they said no. But here’s why they should have.” That’s when he launched into an adult-language rendition of Ursula’s “Poor Unfortunate Souls.”
The third season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt premiered on Netflix May 19.
