Mink Stole, who has been featured in more than a half dozen John Waters films, returns to the San Francisco stage in Sleeping With Straight Men, playing June 14-July 21 at Theatre Rhinoceros. This latest comedy from Ronnie Larsen (Making Porn) also features Dan Renzi ("Real World: Miami") and Sister Roma of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
Sleeping With Straight Men is based on the true story of Scott Amedure, who was killed by Jonathan Schmitz after Amedure revealed he had a crush on Schmitz during a Jenny Jones "Secret Admirer" episode. To Larsen, the play is about lust and, as he reveals on the Straight Men website, "the consequences of sleeping with straight men who own guns."
Stole's films with Waters include "Hairspray," "Polyester," "Pink Flamingos," "Female Trouble," "Serial Mom," "Pecker" and "Cecil B. Demented." Aaron Wimmer is also in the Straight Men cast.
