Adrian Noble's production of the Ian Fleming children's story Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has extended its run at the London Palladium. The show is now booking to March 2004.
The musical's success — largely thanks to the flying car (and it really does appear to fly, off the stage and across the heads of the front rows of the stalls) — is partly based on the waves of nostalgia that adult audiences, who saw the 1960’s film musical, feel as soon as the orchestra strikes up the overture.
