News West Side Story and More Will Play San Diego Musical Theatre's New Home for 2015 Season San Diego Musical Theatre's 2015 season will include West Side Story, Singin' in the Rain, La Cage Aux Folles and White Christmas – all of which will play in the company's new home, the historic Spreckels Theatre in downtown San Diego, CA.

West Side Story

Based on conception of Jerome Robbins, Based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet

"The world's greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre's finest accomplishments. Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to modern-day New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the "American" Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time."

La Cage Aux Folles

Based on the play by Jean Poiret

"La Cage Aux Folles remains one of the all-time biggest hits, adding new dimension to the boulevard comedy. After twenty years of un-wedded bliss Georges and Albin, two men partnered for better-or- worse get a bit of both when Georges’ son (fathered during a one-night fling) announces his impend- ing marriage to the daughter of a bigoted, right-wing politician. Further complicating the situation is the ‘family business’: Albin and Goerges run a drag nightclub in St. Tropez, where Albin is the “star” perfomer ‘Zaza’. Georges reluctantly agrees to masquerade as “normal” when he meets the family of the bride-to-be. But Albin has other plans, with hilarious results."

"Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army com- mander. The dazzling score features well known standards including Blue Skies, I Love A Piano, How Deep Is The Ocean and the perennial favorite, White Christmas."
