Westport artistic director Mark Lamos will helm the production that runs July 12-30. Westport had previously aimed to stage the production two seasons ago, but the planned Broadway revival of the play put restrictions on the rights. When that production was abruptly cancelled last spring, Westport was able to acquire the rights.
Coffey (Resurrection Blues) will play John Haddock, with Conlee (The Full Monty) as Sam Truman, Gambatese (Is He Dead?, Tarzan) as Chloe Haddock and Lacey (Dividing the Estate, Our Town) as Sally Truman.
Here's how Westport describes McNally's play: "In a Fire Island beach house, a brother and sister and their respective spouses gather to celebrate the Fourth of July. With food, cocktails, fireworks and stinging barbs, they fortify themselves against their individual anxieties – and their gay neighbors partying in the houses on either side."
Designing Lips Together, Teeth Apart are Andrew Jackness (scenic design), Candice Donnelly (costume design), Robert Wierzel (lighting design), John Gromada (sound design) and Mark Silence (fight director).
