What Do "Whiskers on Kittens" Smell Like? Wonder No More | Playbill

News What Do "Whiskers on Kittens" Smell Like? Wonder No More Among the many theatre-themed holiday gifts brought to Playbill's attention in recent weeks, one stands out: The Yankee Candle Company has released a series of nine candles themed to the supposed scents of items mentioned in the Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II song, "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music.

The company's "My Favorite Things" line includes candles with scents such as "Crisp Apple Strudel," "Cream Colored Ponies," "Warm Woolen Mittens," "Whiskers on Kittens" and, slightly off topic, "Do Re Mi."

Although the song "My Favorite Things" never specifically mentions Christmas, it appears regularly on holiday albums and radio playlists, possibly because it mentions "brown paper packages tied up with strings" and "snowflakes that fall on my nose and eyelashes."
