The piece will star Neu as Dr. James Thorne, a professor of the very Neu-like science of "Situology," which deals with the place where the factual and the fictional meet and blur. In the piece, Thorne is lecturing at the Saddleholster Film Festival, where old B-movie westerns are screened, revered and analyzed. As he discusses the Old West and its conversion into national entertainment, his frames of reference become increasingly personal. The play will include period stills, film clips and guitar accompaniment. Neu's old colleague Bill Rice appears as the host of the film festival. Keith McDermott directs.
Past Neu efforts have included The Situation Room, Aerobia, Dark Pocket and Kiss Shot. His work's earmarks are a meaning altering play with language, a low-key performance style and Neu's own straight-faced deadpan delivery.
