The 1938 J.B. Priestley comedy, When We Are Married, opens the 1999 repertory season at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Mar. 5. The play will run in repertory through July 25.
The plot line is surprisingly similar to A.A. Milne's Mr. Pim Passes By: When a couple who have been together for 25 years find out they were never legally married, they are given a chance to reexamine their marriage choice. Other plays by Priestley include Time and the Conways and An Inspector Calls.
Married stars Traber Burns, Greta Lambert, Philip Pleasants, Rochelle Hogue, Paul Hebron, Jill Tanner, Brian Kurlander and Jenny Sheffer Stevens. Barry Boys directs.
Doug Huszti designed the set, Christine Turbitt, the costumes, Liz Lee, the lighting and Don Tindall the sound. Jim Conely is music coordinator.

Also featured in the repertory schedule are productions of Shakespeare's As You Like It, Troilus and Cressida and Richard III, as well as the world premieres of Barbara Lebow's bio-drama of George Wallace's wife, Lurleen and Sockdology, Jeffrey Hatcher's comic look at the Our American Cousin company who acted at Lincoln's assassination.
