News Whoopi Goldberg Among Producers of White Noise Musical Readings; Sergio Trujillo Will Direct Academy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg is among the producers of upcoming staged readings of White Noise, the Broadway-aimed musical about a young female white-separatist singing duo.

According to a casting notice, choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Memphis, Jersey Boys, The Addams Family, Next to Normal) will direct and choreograph the September readings.

Goldberg, who has produced Thoroughly Modern Millie and the Broadway-bound musical Sister Act in the West End, attended a December 2009 reading of White Noise. At the time she commented that she was a fan of the musical and "wanted to help the show in any way she could."

The reading's producers also include Holly Way, Jay Strommen and Tom Leonardis on White Noise. Future plans for the musical have not been announced.

Originally conceived by Ryan Davis, the musical has a book by Matte O'Brien with music and lyrics by Robert Morris, Steven Morris and Joe Shane.

An earlier synopsis of the musical (in its New Orleans debut) read: "Eva and Kady Siller have established a small following as folk singers promoting messages of white power. They are discovered by a powerful New York manager who convinces them that they can penetrate the world of mainstream rock/pop, dramatically increasing their power, by simply coding the lyrics to their hate songs. Indeed, powerful packaging and a passive public are a dangerous combination." Previous readings of White Noise featured Nancy Anderson, Jacob ben Widmar, Sarah Jayne Blackmore, Rodney Hicks, Antwayn Hopper, Laura Lim Jackson, Grasan Kingsberry, Erin Kukla, Mackenzie Mauzy, Andrew McGinn, Patrick Murney, David Nathan Perlow, John Preston, BranDon Williams and Libby Winters.
