News   Wicked’s Murney Returns to New York Stage Oct. 23 After a six-month stint as Elphaba in the national tour of Stephen Schwartz’s Wicked, Julia Murney will return to the New York stage in October.

Murney is scheduled to perform a solo concert at Birdland Oct. 23. The evening — which will celebrate Murney’s solo debut CD, "I'm Not Waiting" (Sh-K-Boom Records) — is part of the famed jazz club's "Broadway at Birdland" series. Show time is 7 PM. Julia Murney made her Broadway debut last season in Lennon. She received a Drama Desk nomination for her work in Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party, and her other theatrical credits include Crimes of the Heart, Time and Again, A Class Act, Cloud 9, Snapshots, Mata Hari and the national tour of Wicked. Murney also portrayed Florence in the Chess benefit concert for The Actors' Fund of America and was part of the all-star Children of Eden concert as well.

Birdland is located in Manhattan at 315 West 44th Street. There is a $25 cover and $10 food/drink minimum. Call (212) 581-3080 for reservations.
