News Wilson Cruz and Natascia Diaz Set for West Coast tick, tick . . . BOOM! Casting has been announced for the Rubicon Theatre Company's upcoming production of Jonathan Larson's tick, tick . . . BOOM!

Wilson Cruz, Natascia Diaz and Andrew Samonsky will comprise the three-person cast of the musical, which is set to begin previews Nov. 17 with an official opening Nov. 19. The limited engagement at the Ventura theatre will run through Dec. 18.

Scott Schwartz, who helmed the New York and London productions of the musical about a 30-year-old composer on the brink of success, will direct here as well. The creative team also includes Christopher Gattelli (choreography), Brent Crayon (musical direction), David Farley (set and costume design) and Jeremy Pivnick (lighting design).

tick, tick . . . BOOM! is an autobiographical piece by the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer of Rent, the late Jonathan Larson. It features book, music and lyrics by Larson; David Auburn was script consultant. The original Off-Broadway company featured Raúl Esparza, Amy Spanger and Jerry Dixon.

Wilson Cruz appeared in the Off-Broadway production of tick, tick . . . BOOM! as well as the Los Angeles and Broadway companies of Rent. He may be best known for his work on the TV series "My So Called Life"; his other screen credits include "Ally McBeal," "Party of Five," "ER," "The West Wing," "Supernova," "Nixon," "Johns," "All Over Me" and "Joyride."

Natascia Diaz has appeared on Broadway in Man of La Mancha, Seussical, The Capeman and Carousel. She was seen Off-Broadway in Bright Lights, Big City; tick, tick . . . BOOM!; and Saturday Night, and she received acclaim for her work in the Kennedy Center production of A Little Night Music. Andrew Samonsky recently completed his first regional tour in Disney's On the Record. His regional credits include Forever Plaid, Into the Woods and Smokey Joe's Cafe. He has also been seen on TV's "Guiding Light."
