News Woody Allen's "Whatever Works" to Open Tribeca Film Festival The new Manhattan-set Woody Allen comedy "Whatever Works" will kick off the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival April 22.

Ed Begley Jr., Patricia Clarkson, Larry David and Evan Rachel Wood star in the film, which marks a Big Apple return for Allen, who has shot his most recent films in Europe. "Whatever Works" will arrive in theatres June 19. "I fell in love with New York through Woody Allen's movies and I am excited we are opening this year's Festival with Sony Pictures Classics for the world premiere of Woody's 'Whatever Works,' a uniquely funny addition to his body of work," said Tribeca Film Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal in a statement.

The dark romantic comedy also features Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr., Kristen Johnston and Michael McKean.
