Directed by Intiman artistic director Sher (The Light in the Piazza), the new work will officially open Aug. 3 at the Seattle Center for a run currently scheduled through Aug. 26. Set during the Iraq war, this world premiere follows "the connection between two childhood friends who are unexpectedly reunited on the eve of one's first tour of duty in Baghdad."

James McMenamin and Daniel Zaitchik play the childhood friends. John Procaccino, Cynthia Lauren Tewes, Chelsey Rives and Conor Gormally play the relatives of the latter. Kimberly King also appears in the cast.

The production reteams constant collaborators Lucas and Sher, who worked on the recent Intiman Chekhov adaptation of Uncle Vanya as well as Three Sisters and the musical The Light in the Piazza. Other collaborations include The Singing Forest and The Dying Gaul.

Other works from Lucas include Reckless, Prelude to a Kiss, Stranger, Small Tragedy and the screenplays for "Longtime Companion" and "The Secret Lives of Dentists," among others.

Sher's credits include Awake and Sing! on Broadway and The Barber of Seville at the Metropolitan Opera. He is slated to direct the upcoming Broadway revival of South Pacific.

The design team for Prayer for My Enemy includes John McDermott (scenic), Catherine Zuber (costume), Stephen Strawbridge (lighting) and Stephen LeGrand (sound). Lisa Ann Chernoff serves as stage manager.
