FringeNYC cancelled the final two days of performances of the 15th annual festival due to Hurricane Irene and the shut down of New York City mass transit on Aug. 27-28. The Overall Excellence Awards are typically announced at the closing-night party, which was also cancelled. The recipients were instead revealed online.
The Fringe also announced its "Encore Series," which invites hit shows and audience favorites back for an encore run Sept. 9-26 at the Players Theatre and the SoHo Playhouse.
Initial shows set for the "Encore Series" include PigPen Presents the Mountain Song, The Legend of Julie Taymor, Fourteen Flights, The More Loving One, Facebook Me, Araby, Paper Cut, You Only Shoot the Ones You Love, Parker & Dizzy's Fabulous Journey to the End Of the Rainbow, Pearl's Gone Blue, Felony Friday and COBU.
