The program of 45 performances has been reduced from last year's 60, although Chen Shenglai, president of the organizing committee, told the paper that the overall quality of the programs is better.
A total of 18 countries is represented among the performers.
The Bayersiche Staatsballett will perform Ray Barra's new version of Petipa's Raymonda; NYCB will present a program of Balanchine works. Rossini's The Barber of Seville, starring baritone Liao Changyong, will open the festival.
The monthlong festival, now in its seventh year, will run October 18 through November 18.
