York Theatre to Offer Plaid Tidings Off-Broadway

News   York Theatre to Offer Plaid Tidings Off-Broadway
The York Theatre Company is set to stage Plaid Tidings, a special holiday edition of the long-running Off-Broadway hit Forever Plaid, this December.

The production will feature direction by Stuart Ross and vocal and musical arrangements by James Raitt, Brad Ellis, Raymond Berg and David Snyder. A cast will be announced shortly.

Performances will run Dec. 8-27 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter’s, with an opening night scheduled for Dec. 13.

Plaid Tidings presents a holiday twist on Forever Plaid, featuring standards such as "Jingle Bells," "’Twuz the Night B4…," and "The Dreidel Song." The show follows four male singers who are killed in a car crash during the 1950's but return to earth for the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams. According to press notes, it will feature "audience favorites like their riotous three-minute version of “The Ed Sullivan Show”—this time featuring the Rockettes, the Chipmunks, and the Vienna Boys Choir—and a Plaid Caribbean Christmas which puts the "Day-O" in "Excelsis!"

Forever Plaid is an Off-Broadway musical written by Ross that has been performed internationally since its 1990 debut.

Tickets for Plaid Tidings, from $39.50, are now on sale by calling (212) 935-5820, online at YorkTheatre.org, or in person at the box office at the York Theatre at Saint Peter’s, located on East 54th Street, New York.
