Partnering Zane onstage is British actor Claire Bloom who plays Lily, a lonely but formidable widow with a flair for dancing. Zane plays her gay, acerbic dance instructor Michael.
Six Dance Lessons premiered in 2001 at the Geffen Playhouse, Los Angeles, starring Uta Hagen and David Hyde Pierce. Two years later the play opened at Broadway's Belasco Theatre with Polly Bergen and Mark Hamill playing the mismatched duo. As with that production, the London version is also directed by Allan Seidelman.
Stage veteran Bloom was last seen on the London stage in 2004 playing Florence Nightingale in the Almeida production of Sebastian Barry’s Whistling Psyche. Broadway productions include All’s Well That Ends Well and Hedda Gabler.
Screen star Zane came to prominence as a psychopathic murderer in the movie "Dead Calm." Perhaps his best known role was as Kate Winslet’s villainous fiancé in "Titanic."
