News Zimbalist and Jacoby Join Original A Little Night Music Star Ralston for CA Run Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's musical, A Little Night Music, officially opens the season South Coast Repertory Sept. 14 with stars Stephanie Zimbalist, Teri Ralston and Mark Jacoby.

Stefan Novinski directs the musical, which began previews Sept. 7 on the Costa Mesa, CA, company's Segerstrom Stage. The run is scheduled to conclude Oct. 7.

Zimbalist, Ralston and Jacoby star in the musical where "romantic liaisons are played out beneath the mysterious summer night of Sweden at the turn of the century."

Ralston — the original Mrs. Nordstrom in A Little Night Music on Broadway) now plays Madame Armfeldt to Zimbalist (My One and Only, "Remington Steele") as Desiree Armfeldt and Jacoby (Sweeney Todd, Showboat) as Frederik.

Joining them in the cast are Christopher Carothers (Mr. Lindquist), Misty Cotton (Petra), Karen Culliver (Mrs. Nordstrom), Joe Farrell (Henrik Egerman), Katie Horwitch (Fredrika Armfeldt), Damon Kirsch (Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm), Ann Marie Lee (Mrs. Anderssen), Tracy Lore (Mrs. Segstrom), Branden McDonald (Frid), Kevin McMahon (Mr. Erlanson), Amanda Naughton (Countess Charlotte Malcolm) and Carolann Sanita (Anne Egerman).

Ken Roht choreographs. The design team includes Sibyl Wickersheimer (set), Shigeru Yaji (costume), Christopher Akerlind (lighting) and Drew Dalzell (sound). Megan Monaghan is dramaturg, and Jamie A. Tucker serves as stage manager. The 44th season for SCR will continue with Shipwrecked! (Sept. 23-Oct. 14), Doubt (Oct. 19-Nov. 18), A Christmas Carol (Nov. 24-Dec. 24), La Posada Mágica (The Magical Journey) (Dec. 7-23), A Feminine Ending (Jan. 6-27, 2008), The Importance of Being Earnest (Feb. 8-March 9, 2008), Culture Clash in AmeriCCa (March 16-April 6, 2008) and Taking Steps (May 16-June 15, 2008). Two new productions are still to be announced.
