39 Steps Talkback Series Begins June 9

News   39 Steps Talkback Series Begins June 9
Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps, Broadway's comedy caper, starts a six-week post-show talkback series on June 9 at the Helen Hayes Theatre.

For the Tuesday series, dubbed "Hitchcock Meets Hilarious," the cast of the hit comedy will be joined onstage by New York comedians and prominent Hitchcock aficionados for a discussion about the art of stage comedy and the master director Alfred Hitchcock.

The talkbacks are free to anyone attending the Tuesday evening performances.

At press time, comedians Frank DeCaro ("The Daily Show," Sirius XM's "The Frank DeCaro Show") and Christian Finnegan (VH1's "Best Week Ever") will participate. Richard Chapman (screenwriter and film producer, including the new "Alfred Hitchcock Presents") will launch the series June 9.

Now in its second year, the Tony Award-winning quick-change comedy version of Hitchcock's classic film thriller is adapted by Patrick Barlow and directed by Maria Aitken. The production is based on an original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon and on the book by John Buchan. The 39 Steps "features a cast of four actors who, against all odds, breathlessly and hilariously attempt to re-enact all of the characters, locations and famous scenes in Hitchcock's 1935 film thriller with just a few props and a lot of theatrical ingenuity and split second quick changes."

The production stars Arnie Burton (Man #2), Jeffrey Kuhn (Man #1), Sean Mahon (Richard Hannay), Jill Paice (Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret). The company also includes Rob Breckenridge, Claire Brownell and Cameron Folmar.

Tickets are available from TeleCharge at (212) 239-6200, online at www.telecharge.com and at the Helen Hayes Theatre box office. Performances are Tuesday at 7 PM, Wednesday through Saturday at 8 PM, with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2 PM, Sunday at 3 PM.
