Julie Lund, lately filling a supporting role in Neil Simon's 45 Seconds on Broadway, will be center stage in her next production: an Off-Broadway mounting of Strindberg's classic Miss Julie. The Green Chinchilla-Inverse Theater co-production will run at the Red Room, April 18-May 4.
Lund has been in the habit of ricocheting between New York's most prominent stages and fairly anonymous black boxes hidden in the buildings below 14th Street. After essaying a major role in Christopher Durang's Betty's Summer Vacation at Playwrights Horizons, she created one of the leads in the Downtown production of Kirk Wood Bromley's verse play The Death of Don Flagrant Delicto. She then jumped to Broadway in the short-lived Neil Simon comedy, 45 Seconds.
Sebastian Arceclus and Sonya Rokes will be Lund's costars in Strindberg's caustic tale of class and sex warfare. Alexandra Farkas directs.
Tickets are $15. The Red Room is located at 85 E. 4th St., between Second Avenue and the Bowery. Performances are Thursday-Saturday at 8 PM. Reservations: (718) 852-8777.
