For the second year, Rosen, the author of The Classical Style and other books, will present a series of lecture-recitals; he too will focus on Mozart next season, examining the myths surrounding the composer and the reasons for his continued popularity.
The New York Philharmonic's series, which began two years ago, presents the orchestra's principal players in chamber music concerts with visiting soloists. Soloists next year include soprano Heidi Grant Murphy and violinist Gil Shaham.
Other highlights include "Isaac Bound," an interdisciplinary exploration of the Jewish High Holidays with baritone Sanford Sylvan as music director. The groundbreaking chamber group eighth blackbird marks its 10th anniversary with a program featuring five New York premieres.
The 30th season of the Chamber Music at the Y series features artistic director Jaime Laredo in performance with a number of prominent colleagues, including pianist Peter Serkin, violist Michael Tree, and pianist Joseph Kalichstein.
