Disney's Aida will have its first production outside of the United States in Amsterdam, a spokesman for the Dutch theatrical producing company Stage Holding said June 3 in the press room at the Tony Awards. The Elton John-Tim Rice musical will bow in Amsterdam in October. Aida opened on Broadway on March 23, 2000. Stage Holding will also handle an upcoming mounting of Disney's The Lion King in Hamburg, Germany, set to begin in December.
Stage Holding is co-producing the current Broadway revival of 42nd Street with Dodger Theatricals. 42nd Street won a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.
