Ryan (A Streetcar Named Desire, "Uncle Vanya"), according to the Hollywood Reporter, will return as Holly from HR, an old flame of Michael's. Bates ("Misery," "Annie," 'night, Mother) will appear again as Jo Bennett, the CEO of the Sabre company that bought out Dunder Mifflin last season, and Hardin (Chicago), as previously reported, will return once again as executive Jan Levinson, who has an on-again, off-again relationship with Michael.
The season will highlight several actors in their own individual episodes during the first half of the season, to hint at who might replace Carrell as Dunder Mifflin's boss and/or the show's star. Andy (Ed Helms) will be seen starring in a community theatre production of Sweeney Todd.
The seventh season of "The Office" will premiere Sept. 23 at 9 PM ET on NBC.
