Following a 2008 Los Angeles premiere and a Public LAB developmental run, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson began performances at The Public Theater March 23.

A brash, hilarious indie rock musical about the country we live in and the leaders we choose, Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson audaciously redefines America's seventh president, the man who invented the Democratic Party and doubled the size of our nation, with a raucous blend of outrageous comedy, anarchic theatricality, and an infectious 'emo rock' score.

Alex Timbers directs a cast headed by Benjamin Walker in the title role. The show continues through April 25.

Further uptown, Emmy and Tony Award nominee John Tartaglia presents his new family-friendly musical ImaginOcean at New World Stages. Performances began March 17.

The show follows the undersea adventures of a group of fish friends, who uncover a treasure map that leads them to learn about themselves and ultimately uncover the treasure of each other's friendship.

Donna Drake directs the production, scheduled for a limited run through Sept. 12.
