News Andersen's County of Kings to Play the Public Beginning Jan. 7 The Public Theater in association with American Place Theater will present County of Kings: the beautiful struggle, beginning Jan. 7, 2009, at the Public.

Part of the Under the Radar 2009 festival, the production will run through Jan. 18, 2009. The autobiographical play by Def Poetry Jam's Lemon Andersen will be directed by Elise Thoron, who also developed the piece. In County of Kings, press notes state, "Brooklyn based hip-hop artist Lemon Andersen paints a portrait of a modern 'man-child' on a tumultuous journey of self-discovery, performed in Lemon's unique voice and weaving drama with urban poetry. His true story of finding passion and purpose in life, against all odds, exposes the human experience behind hip-hop, perhaps the most influential and prevalent cultural movement of our time."

The 12-day Under the Radar 2009 festival is committed to tracking new theatre from across the U.S. and around the world.
