Tony winner Lloyd Webber told the Los Angeles Times that he was "very excited" to acquire rights to the comedy, which features Black as a musician who becomes a teacher and transforms his students into a rock band. About the score, Lloyd Weber said, "There may be songs for me in it…but it's obviously got songs in it as it stands."

Lloyd Webber added, "I will go from Stephen Ward, which is really going to be sort of a chamber musical, to a musical about kids playing the guitar."

Stephen Ward, which is still in development, is expected to arrive in the West End in 2014. The musical features book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton and a score by Lloyd Weber. Directed by Richard Eyre, the show chronicles the emergence of the 60s cultural revolution and the repression and revolt of the old guard against the new concepts and ideals.
